Luxury wedding in Val D’Orcia

Elisabeth and John were animated by the strong desire to spend a great time with their families and closest friends. This ideas guided us when searching the venue for their luxury wedding in Val D’Orcia.  They wanted to spend 3 days all together, among chats, good food, excellent wine and many activities. Therefore to have everybody staying on site was a must. When I showed them this little hamlet close to Montalcino, it was love at first sight. Surrounded by the rolling Tuscan hills, a few steps from many beautiful medieval villages, with the possibility to organize from yoga, to biking, from wine tastings to golf, it was the perfect place to feel good together.

After a welcome dinner in Florence, where all guests met, we moved south to Val D’Orcia. The three days have been a succession of unique experiences and themed lunches and dinners under the Tuscan sky.

On the wedding day, the ceremony took place at a different location. Indeed, although the ceremony wasn’t religious, bride and groom wanted it to take place in a nice and intimate church. San Michele chapel was beyond ideal. Cozy and warm, with the perfectly preserved fresco of Lorenzetti was a unique backdrop for them to exchange rings and muptial vows.

On the way back to the venue, they stopped for some photos at the stunning villa we rented for the rehearsal dinner: the view at sunset was simply stunning. In the meantime guests were enjoying the cocktail hour with excellent wines and canapes in the garden. Afterwards friends and families had been delighted by delicious dinner in the marquee on the lawn. Later in the evening the cake (with bride and groom’s cakes!), the first dance and dancing all night long with a great motown band come specially from London.

MOOD BOARD AND STYLE

A bluish secret garden

Pureness, elegance, a sober splendour. I think we can summarize the style of Elizabeth and John’s wedding with these three words. The concept was all around creating something magic, like a secret garden that discloses to guest’s eyes amazing everybody. But it didn’t have to be extravagant or sumptuous. The atmosphere should be relaxed and welcoming.

The palette was mainly composed of neutral tones, with just some touches of a light, dusty blue and vintage gold. The decoration of the ceremony was very natural and perfectly integrated with the environment. A big arch of greenery and flowers enclosed the door of the small chapel, while inside a minimal decoration made of candles, greenery and white blooms left the frescos to be the most romantic background for the nuptial vows.

An elegant tent hosted the reception. It was dressed up with big crystal chandeliers surrounded by flowers and hanging greenery, The bar was centrally placed with a greenery wall behind. A mix of round and rectangular wooden tables created a dynamic, informal yet beautiful atmosphere. Candlestick and tea lights were spread everywhere, while untidy flowers arrangements in different sizes and shapes brought a scent of spring over the tables.

The ultimate touch was the stationery which was designed from scratch for Elisabeth and John. A sketch of the venue on the cover that was tied with a soft silk ribbon.
