A three-day wedding in Tuscany doesn’t have to mean planning three full-scale events, or paying for them.

Terre di Nano works particularly well for couples who want to spend several days with their guests in the Val d’Orcia, while giving each part of the celebration a different rhythm and level of production.

With accommodation, multiple event spaces and the possibility of hosting the entire celebration within the same property, it offers something particularly valuable for a destination wedding: the opportunity to create a multi-day experience without treating every day like the wedding day.

And that can make a significant difference not only to the guest experience, but also to how you use your wedding budget.

Why Terre di Nano Works So Well for a Wedding Weekend

One of the biggest advantages of Terre di Nano is that your guests don’t simply come here for the wedding. They can actually live the place with you for several days.

The estate is booked exclusively for a minimum of two nights, although most of our couples choose to stay for three. During that time, the entire property is yours, including the accommodation, pool and outdoor spaces. This creates a very different experience from having guests arrive at a venue on the wedding day and leave again at the end of the night.

Those staying on the property wake up together, spend time by the pool, meet for breakfast and gradually move from one event to the next, surrounded by the vineyards, olive groves and rolling hills of the Val d’Orcia. The wedding becomes part of a few days spent together in Tuscany rather than an isolated celebration.

Terre di Nano can accommodate around 50 guests on site, so for larger weddings not everyone will necessarily stay at the property. We usually accommodate the remaining guests in nearby

Montepulciano and arrange shuttle transportation for the events, which makes it possible to maintain the same sense of a shared experience even with a larger guest list.

The result is a wedding where time together begins well before the ceremony and continues long after the party is over.

Three Days Don’t Have to Mean Three Big-Budget Events

Planning a three-day wedding doesn’t mean that your welcome event, wedding day and farewell event all need the same level of production, or the same budget.

At Terre di Nano, the spaces for these events are already available as part of your stay. This means you can host a welcome dinner, pizza party or next-day gathering without having to book another venue and pay an additional venue fee elsewhere.

The in-house catering makes this even more practical. For the events surrounding the wedding, we often recommend keeping things simple: a welcome party in Tuscany can be a pizza party or relaxed Tuscan dinner the night before, followed by an informal brunch or pool party the next day.. These moments don’t need elaborate setups to work. Guests are already together, surrounded by the Val d’Orcia countryside, and the informal atmosphere is often exactly what makes them enjoyable.

The wedding day can then be approached differently. This is where you may choose to invest more in catering, flowers, lighting, furniture and all the elements that transform the property for the main celebration.

The idea isn’t to spend less everywhere. It’s to decide which moments deserve a bigger investment and which ones can remain beautifully simple.
This approach becomes particularly important when looking at the overall cost of a wedding in Tuscany, where linked events, accommodation and the wedding day all contribute to the final budget.

How to Use the Different Spaces Across the Three Days

One of the things we particularly like about planning a wedding weekend at Terre di Nano is that you don’t have to use the same spaces over and over again. The property allows each event to have its own setting and atmosphere, even when everything takes place in the same venue.

For a welcome event, we often use the panoramic terrace or the large lawn just below it. Both work well for a first evening that gives guests time to arrive, reconnect and settle into the weekend.

The wedding day then creates a completely different journey through the property. The ceremony takes place in the garden overlooking the hills of the Val d’Orcia, followed by aperitivo on the panoramic terrace. From there, guests move into the olive grove for dinner, before heading to the main indoor hall for the party.

If the celebration continues the following day, the pool becomes a natural setting for a much more informal gathering, exactly the kind of atmosphere that works after the wedding night.

What makes this flow particularly effective is that each part of the weekend feels different without asking guests to constantly move between venues. You’re using Terre di Nano as one property, but experiencing it in several different ways over the course of the stay.

Where We Would Invest More, and Where You May Not Need To

Having planned many weddings at Terre di Nano, we know that some additional investments make a real difference, while others simply aren’t necessary.

For welcome dinners, pizza parties, brunches and other informal events, we often recommend using Terre di Nano’s in-house catering. It works particularly well for these more relaxed moments and avoids bringing in a full external catering operation for every event.

For the wedding day, however, we usually recommend working with an external wedding caterer. It’s not simply about the food. A caterer specializing in weddings generally offers greater flexibility in terms of service, setup and production, as well as a wider selection of tableware. Plates, glassware, cutlery, linens and often tables are typically available in different styles within the caterer’s own collection, giving us more options to build the tablescape and create a more cohesive wedding design for the main celebration..

We’ve also planned weddings at Terre di Nano using the in-house catering, so this is certainly possible. The difference is that their standard tableware selection is more limited. When the design calls for something different, those elements need to be rented separately from a rental company, an additional cost that should be considered when comparing the two options.

The same principle applies elsewhere. Terre di Nano already provides several pieces of furniture that can be incorporated into the setup, while the olive grove has existing string lights that can be used at no additional cost. This is particularly useful considering how significant outdoor lighting can be within a wedding production budget.

It’s not simply about choosing where to spend more. It’s about understanding what is already available, what each supplier includes, and where an additional investment will actually change the result.

The Ceremony Garden Is the Space Couples Fall in Love With

If there is one space that tends to make couples fall in love with Terre di Nano, it is the ceremony garden. Set at the edge of the property, it opens directly onto the rolling hills of the Val d’Orcia, which become a natural backdrop behind the couple during the ceremony.

And this is one of those cases where we believe the view should do most of the work. We always add flowers, but rather than large arches or installations that could obstruct the landscape, we usually recommend low floral arrangements or ground-based designs that frame the ceremony while keeping the view open.

There are, however, two practical considerations to keep in mind. The garden is long and relatively narrow, with a maximum capacity of around 120 seated guests, so we consider this a real limitation for larger weddings.

The other is the summer heat. Ceremonies generally need to begin by around 4:30 or 5:00 PM to fit comfortably within the wedding-day timeline, and at that time the garden is still in full sun. For summer weddings, we therefore recommend placing fans on the chairs, providing parasols and welcoming guests with a refreshing drink before the ceremony begins.

The heat is something to plan for, but not something that usually changes our couples’ minds. Once they see the ceremony garden and the Val d’Orcia behind it, this is almost always where they want to get married.

What Happens If It Rains?

For a venue where so much of the experience is built around the outdoors, the rain plan is something you should understand before booking. The good news is that Terre di Nano has two indoor spaces that allow us to create a solid Plan B for the entire wedding day.

The main indoor hall is the largest space, so in case of rain we prioritize it for dinner. The indoor restaurant can then accommodate the ceremony and aperitivo. While guests are having dinner, we can transform the restaurant from the aperitivo setup into the party space for later in the evening.

Of course, this means moving between two spaces rather than the four different settings we would normally use on a sunny day, and both indoor areas need to be considered within the overall design, with appropriate flowers and lighting.

The ceremony is the part we try hardest to preserve outdoors. Moving it inside inevitably changes both the atmosphere and the natural light for photography, so if the forecast gives us a realistic window, we will always evaluate whether the ceremony can still take place outside.

The final decision is generally made on the morning of the wedding. We can’t wait much longer, as the catering and production teams need enough time to prepare the spaces according to the confirmed setup.

It’s not the same wedding flow you would have on a sunny day, but it is a Plan B that works, and that distinction is important when choosing a venue primarily for its outdoor spaces.

This is also why the rain plan should be considered from the beginning, as weather-related requirements can become one of the hidden wedding costs in Tuscany if they are only addressed later.

Is Terre di Nano Right for Your Wedding Weekend?

Terre di Nano is a particularly good match if what attracts you to Tuscany is its countryside rather than a resort-style experience. This is an authentic agriturismo: the accommodation has a rustic Tuscan character, the estate produces its own wine and olive oil, and much of its appeal comes from experiencing the property as it is.

The wedding itself can certainly be elevated through flowers, lighting, table settings and thoughtful design, but the character of the property remains intentionally rural.

There are also some practical limits to consider. We wouldn’t recommend Terre di Nano for weddings significantly exceeding 120 guests, and if having all your guests accommodated on the property, or having a wide selection of sophisticated indoor spaces, is a priority, other venues may be a better fit.

For the right couple, however, its strengths come together particularly well: the Val d’Orcia landscape, exclusive use of the property, several days of shared experiences and the flexibility to concentrate more of the budget on the moments that matter most.

The real question isn’t simply whether you love Terre di Nano, but whether the way the property works matches the wedding weekend you want to create. Having planned many celebrations here, we can help you understand those possibilities as part of our bespoke wedding planning in Tuscany, before you make that decision and, if it’s the right venue for you, throughout the planning process.
