Most couples assume that choosing a Tuscan borgo means choosing a particular style of wedding.
In reality, two venues that look equally beautiful can create completely different experiences.
Borgo I Vicelli is a perfect example.
At first glance, it feels like the classic Tuscan borgo surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills. But after planning weddings here, we realised that what makes this venue unique isn’t its architecture. It’s the way every space naturally brings guests together instead of leading them from one surprise to the next.
The mistake isn’t thinking the venue is bigger than it is. It’s assuming that every beautiful Tuscan borgo works equally well for every guest count and every wedding style.
Why Borgo I Vicelli Offers a Different Kind of Destination Wedding

When couples begin searching for a wedding venue in Tuscany, they often compare villas, borgos, and estates as if they offered different versions of the same experience.
Some venues are designed around grand architecture and impressive event spaces. Others offer the feeling of a private countryside home, where everything revolves around the wedding day itself.
Borgo I Vicelli sits somewhere in between.
Rather than recreating the atmosphere of a large Tuscan estate, it combines the warmth of a restored borgo with the comfort and hospitality of an elevated countryside retreat. Beautifully designed apartments, a gourmet restaurant, a spa, and a panoramic pool allow couples and their guests to spend several days together without sacrificing the level of comfort they might expect from a boutique hotel.
The wedding day is certainly the highlight of the weekend, but it’s rarely the only reason they’re here. Welcome dinners, pizza nights, relaxed afternoons by the pool, long breakfasts together, and farewell brunches naturally become part of the experience, all without the need to bring in external catering or organise additional venues for every event.
Unlike venues designed to surprise guests with a succession of hidden spaces, Borgo I Vicelli creates a stronger sense of togetherness. Guests quickly become familiar with the property, making the atmosphere feel relaxed, welcoming, and remarkably easy to enjoy throughout the weekend.
Whether that’s exactly what you’re looking for depends less on the venue itself than on the kind of destination wedding you want to create.
How Guest Count Changes the Way the Venue Works

One of the questions we’re asked most often is, “How many guests can Borgo I Vicelli accommodate?”
The honest answer is that capacity isn’t the most useful way to think about this venue.
A better question is: How do you imagine your wedding day?
If you’re dreaming of a traditional seated dinner with beautifully dressed tables, generous spacing, and a relaxed flow, we believe Borgo I Vicelli expresses its full potential with around 50 guests. At this size, the spaces feel balanced, guests move naturally throughout the property, and the intimate atmosphere remains intact.
As the guest count grows, the venue doesn’t suddenly stop working, but the experience naturally begins to change.
Instead of asking how to fit more tables into the available space, the conversation becomes about rethinking the celebration itself.
We’ve planned two very different weddings here. One followed a traditional format with around 60 guests. The other welcomed 175, but it worked because the wedding was designed differently from the very beginning.
Rather than forcing a classic seated dinner into a space that wasn’t intended for it, the couple embraced a lively festival-style celebration.
Food stations, kiosks, and food trucks replaced the formal meal, while cocktail tables and informal seating encouraged guests to move freely before the evening ended with dancing on the lawn.
The result wasn’t a larger version of the same wedding.
It was a completely different way of celebrating.
That’s why, when a couple tells us they’re planning a wedding for more than 100 guests, our first question is never, “How many people are coming?”
It’s “How do you picture your wedding day?”
Because once that vision is clear, it becomes much easier to understand whether Borgo I Vicelli is the right venue, or simply requires a different approach to make the most of everything it offers.
Why Guests Feel at Home So Quickly

One of the things we notice during every site visit is how quickly couples stop thinking about Borgo I Vicelli as a wedding venue and start imagining themselves living there.
Rather than simply showing each space, we walk couples through the wedding weekend, step by step. Where guests will gather on arrival.
The place where they’ll share their first dinner together.
Where they’ll wake up the next morning for breakfast overlooking the pool before spending a relaxed afternoon in the Tuscan sunshine.
Unlike larger estates where guests often need shuttles, long walks, or directions to move between different areas, everything at Borgo I Vicelli is just a short walk away. The ceremony, aperitif, dinner, and party all feel connected, making the day effortless for guests without ever feeling rushed.
There is only one real surprise.
While most of the borgo reveals itself almost immediately, the pool remains tucked away behind the main buildings. It’s often the moment that makes couples stop and say, “We weren’t expecting this.” At sunset, it also becomes one of the most memorable settings for cocktails before the evening celebration continues elsewhere.
Perhaps that’s why guests settle in so quickly.
By the end of the wedding, people don’t rush back to their rooms or immediately leave the venue. They stay together, chatting a little longer before calling it a night, knowing they’ll see each other again over breakfast the next morning.
That’s what makes Borgo I Vicelli feel different.
It doesn’t just host a wedding.
It creates the feeling of spending a weekend together in a place that already feels familiar.
What You Should Know Before Choosing Borgo I Vicelli
Borgo I Vicelli is one of those venues that rewards couples who understand its strengths from the very beginning.
Rather than asking how much the venue can adapt to your wedding, it’s worth asking whether your vision naturally fits the way the property works.
One of the first things to consider is your guest count. For around 50 guests, the venue feels beautifully balanced. Most guests can stay on-site, the internal restaurant can host welcome dinners or farewell brunches, and every space works as intended.
As the wedding becomes larger, planning naturally becomes more complex.
For weddings of more than 50 guests, the internal restaurant can’t be used for wedding events, making an external caterer necessary. If it rains, the indoor spaces suit smaller celebrations, while larger weddings may require a marquee for dinner.
Another detail that often surprises couples is how open the property feels. Because the main event spaces are close together, guests will usually catch a glimpse of the dinner area while it’s being prepared. For some couples, this reduces the element of surprise. For others, especially those planning a relaxed weekend with close family and friends, it makes little difference.
The indoor party room also works best for intimate weddings, while larger celebrations are generally better suited to the lawn, where there’s more space for dancing and entertainment.
None of these aspects are drawbacks.
They’re simply part of what makes Borgo I Vicelli the venue it is.
The couples who enjoy it most aren’t those trying to make it behave like a larger estate. They’re the ones who embrace its intimate scale and build their wedding around the experience it naturally creates.
Is Borgo I Vicelli the Right Venue for You?
Choosing the right wedding venue isn’t just about falling in love with the architecture. It’s about finding a place that reflects the kind of experience you want to create for yourselves and your guests.
When couples ask us whether Borgo I Vicelli is the right choice, these are the questions we explore together.
Do you picture your guests spending the weekend together while enjoying the comfort of an on-site restaurant and accommodation?
Borgo I Vicelli is designed for shared experiences, from welcome dinners and poolside afternoons to breakfast the morning after the wedding.
If comfortable accommodation, an excellent on-site restaurant, and having everything in one place matter as much as the celebration itself, this venue offers a rare balance between authentic Tuscan charm and elevated hospitality.
Are you planning an intimate wedding rather than a large traditional reception?
Borgo I Vicelli is at its best with smaller guest counts, where every space feels balanced and the relaxed atmosphere becomes part of the experience. Larger weddings are possible, but they often require a different approach rather than simply scaling up a traditional format.
Are you looking for an elevated Tuscan retreat rather than a grand historic estate?
If your priority is spending meaningful time with the people you love in a refined yet welcoming setting, Borgo I Vicelli may be exactly what you’re looking for.
Ultimately, the best wedding venue isn’t the one that simply accommodates your guest list.
It’s the one that naturally creates the experience you’ve been imagining all along.
