Tuscan hamlets for weddings: all the best venues

If there’s one thing Tuscany does exceptionally well, it’s borghi.

These historic hamlets scattered across the countryside offer something few other venues can: not just a setting, but an entire world to step into. Unlike villas or estates, where guests arrive for a single event, a borgo becomes a shared space where every moment, from morning coffee to late-night dancing, unfolds within the same place.

This is why more and more couples are choosing to rent an entire hamlet for their wedding weekend, creating an experience that feels immersive, intimate, and deeply connected to the rhythm of Tuscany.

But not all borghi work in the same way.

Behind the beauty, each one comes with its own structure, dynamics, and possibilities, elements that can shape the entire experience, often in ways that are not immediately obvious.

After showing the Best Tuscan Wedding Venues, in this article, we’ve selected five exceptional Tuscan hamlets for weddings. Not just to describe them, but to help you understand what makes each of them truly work and what you should know before choosing one.

Borgo Santo Pietro

If you’re looking for a refined countryside retreat with a strong sense of privacy, Borgo Santo Pietro is one of the most distinctive options in Tuscany.

Located near Siena, this former hamlet has been transformed into a luxury estate while preserving its rural character. Gardens, farmland, and open landscapes create an atmosphere that feels both curated and deeply connected to nature.

Weddings here are intimate by design. With accommodation for 44 guests and an ideal capacity of around 60 people, the borgo is best suited for small to medium celebrations. A full buyout is required, reinforcing its exclusive feel.

The spaces are flexible, but there are a few dynamics to consider. There are no indoor areas suitable for a full wedding setup, so in case of rain or during shoulder seasons, a tented solution becomes essential. Outdoor music is limited to midnight, naturally shaping the rhythm of the evening.

What makes it unique

Their Trattoria sull’Albero, built around a centuries-old oak tree, offers a setting that feels informal and immersive. Rather than using it for the wedding day itself, it works beautifully for a pre-wedding dinner: a relaxed moment that sets the tone for the days ahead.

For the ceremony, the nearby Abbey of San Galgano offers a unique option: a civil ceremony in a roofless Gothic church, surrounded only by sky and stone.

Borgo San Felice

If you’re drawn to the idea of a wedding that feels like a small Tuscan village coming to life, Borgo San Felice is one of the most complete expressions of that experience.

Located in the heart of Chianti, this restored medieval hamlet combines historic charm with the structure of a luxury resort. Stone houses, small piazzas, and vineyard surroundings create a setting that feels social, open, and naturally inviting.

With accommodation for around 130 guests and a mandatory buyout, the borgo works best when most of the group stays on site, allowing the celebration to unfold across multiple spaces.

The layout is flexible. Ceremonies can take place in front of the small church or under the vine-covered pergola, while dinners often unfold between the main piazza and shaded outdoor areas. Indoor spaces are available for the party, allowing the celebration to continue beyond the outdoor music limit.

There are a few aspects to consider. Internal spaces are more limited, so larger setups may require a tent. The church itself is intimate and cannot host large groups.

Rather than revolving around a single focal point, Borgo San Felice works through a sequence of spaces: from the piazza to the pergola, from the vineyards to the pool.

This makes it ideal for weddings that feel social, dynamic, and lived-in, where each moment unfolds naturally within the village.

Castiglion del Bosco

If you’re looking for a wedding in Tuscany that combines scale, flexibility, and a truly elevated level of service, Castiglion del Bosco stands in a category of its own.

Set within the UNESCO-protected Val d’Orcia, this historic estate stretches across vineyards, olive groves, and rolling hills, offering a setting that feels expansive rather than intimate. It’s not a traditional borgo in the sense of a private village, but a large estate where hospitality, service, and infrastructure play a central role.

Accommodation is spread across 42 suites in the main borgo and 11 private villas, hosting up to around 150 guests in total. This allows the property to adapt to very different wedding formats, from smaller celebrations centered around a single villa, to large-scale events with a full buyout.

Ceremonies often take place at the castle ruins on top of the hill, an iconic setting overlooking the entire landscape. For more intimate gatherings, the small chapel offers a more contained alternative.

Dinner and events can unfold across multiple areas, from the borgo streets to open spaces near the ruins, or within private villas while indoor options are available for the party. Given the size of the estate, internal logistics and transport naturally become part of the planning.

What makes it unique

What sets Castiglion del Bosco apart is its ability to host both micro weddings and large-scale celebrations within the same property, while maintaining a consistent level of luxury throughout.

From an intimate villa gathering to a full buyout event, the experience doesn’t lose its coherence or quality, it simply expands.

This makes it particularly valuable for couples who want flexibility in defining their wedding, without compromising on atmosphere, service, or overall experience.

Borgo Corsignano

A rustic hamlet in the Casentino hills

For couples looking for a more relaxed and authentic atmosphere, Borgo Corsignano offers a different perspective on a Tuscan wedding.

Located in the Casentino valley near Arezzo, this hilltop hamlet is surrounded by forests, open countryside, and wide views over the valley. The setting feels simple and natural, less constructed, more lived-in where the focus shifts from formality to time spent together.

With accommodation for around 70 guests and a mandatory buyout, the borgo works particularly well for wedding weekends where guests stay on site and share the experience. At the same time, both outdoor and indoor spaces can host up to 200 guests, making it especially suitable for larger-scale celebrations.

Ceremonies usually take place on the lawn overlooking the countryside, while dinners unfold outdoors with long tables and a convivial atmosphere. The party often begins in the garden, framed by stone buildings and olive trees and can continue indoors after midnight. A solid indoor backup plan also makes the venue reliable across different seasons.

What defines Borgo Corsignano is not luxury in the traditional sense, but the feeling of ease it creates.

Here, the experience is more relaxed and informal, centered around connection rather than structure. It’s a place where the pace naturally slows down, and where the value of the wedding lies in how it is lived, not just how it looks.

For larger weddings, the nearby sister property becomes a key advantage. The two venues work seamlessly together, allowing you to expand accommodation and guest flow without losing coherence.

This makes Borgo Corsignano particularly suited for couples who want a countryside celebration that feels genuine, flexible, and deeply shared.

Conti di San Bonifacio Wine Resort

Located in the Maremma region of southern Tuscany, Conti di San Bonifacio offers a more intimate and relaxed take on the Tuscan wedding experience.

Set among vineyards, olive groves, and rolling hills, the estate feels private and self-contained, with a slower pace that naturally shapes the rhythm of the celebration. While the sea is not a defining presence, its distant proximity contributes to a softer, more open landscape compared to inland Tuscany.

With accommodation for around 20 guests and a mandatory buyout, the venue is best suited for smaller groups, typically between 30 and 70 people. Its compact layout makes it easy to manage, with all key moments unfolding within a short distance.

The main terrace and garden area host both the ceremony and the dinner, offering a panoramic setting that shifts naturally throughout the day. The aperitivo often takes place by the pool, while indoor spaces are available for the party, allowing the celebration to continue into the night.

A solid indoor option for up to 70 guests, along with the possibility of installing a tent, ensures flexibility across different conditions.

What defines Conti di San Bonifacio is its balance between refinement and ease.

The experience here is intimate, but not formal, curated, yet never overly structured. With fewer spaces and a more contained layout, the focus remains on the group and the time spent together, rather than on constant transitions between settings.

This makes it particularly suited for couples who want a wedding that feels cohesive, relaxed, and naturally elegant, without the need for scale or complexity.

Finding the Right Fit

Choosing a Tuscan hamlet for your wedding means choosing something more immersive than a traditional venue. Rather than celebrating in a single space, you’re creating an experience that unfolds across an entire village.

Some feel expansive and versatile, others more intimate and contained. Some revolve around social, open spaces, while others create a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere. The key is understanding which one aligns with the kind of experience you want to create.

And while these five venues offer very different interpretations of a Tuscan wedding, they are only part of a much wider landscape.

In a previous article, we explored other iconic hamlets such as Borgo Pignano and Il Borgo di Vignamaggio, which further highlight how diverse these settings can be.

If you’re currently exploring venues in Tuscany, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the number of options and by how difficult it can be to truly understand the differences between them.

Beyond aesthetics, what often remains unclear is how each place actually works, and which one can genuinely reflect your personality and the kind of experience you want to create.

That’s where a more grounded, local perspective can make things clearer.

If you’re navigating this phase and need a hand, we can help you cut through the noise, find the right direction and bring it to life in a way that feels truly yours.
