Before diving into endless Instagram scrolling, there’s one question every couple should ask themselves first: how much does a wedding in Tuscany actually cost?

It may not be the most romantic place to start, but it’s the most important one. Because starting your wedding journey by falling in love with beautiful images online can sometimes lead to unrealistic expectations, and, eventually, disappointment.

And let’s be honest: it’s not uncommon to come across planners, especially those based abroad, claiming they can organize your dream wedding at a price that almost sounds too good to be true, sometimes even less than what you might spend for a casual dinner out.

But is it really that simple?

In this article, we’re going to share the real picture, honestly and transparently, of what it actually costs to get married in Tuscany.

An Important Premise

When couples ask us how much a wedding in Tuscany costs, they often expect a simple number. Unfortunately, it’s not that straightforward and while we would love to give a simple answer, the truth is that it’s not that simple.

There isn’t one fixed cost for a wedding. The final budget depends on many different factors: the number of guests, the venue you choose, the level of design and decoration, the experiences you want to create for your guests, and whether your celebration lasts one day or an entire wedding weekend.

For this reason, speaking about an “average wedding cost” can be misleading.
A wedding might be an intimate civil ceremony with just a few people present, or it might be a large, multi-day celebration with a full production team. Budgets can range from a few thousand euros to several hundred thousand.

That’s why, when we start working with our couples, we prefer to talk about something much more useful: the minimum cost per guest.

In our experience as destination wedding planners in Tuscany, this approach makes it much easier to understand what your ideal budget can realistically achieve. It helps you see how many people you can invite, whether it makes sense to adjust the guest list, or if you have room to add extra experiences and details that will make your celebration truly special.

The Real Starting Cost Per Guest for a Wedding in Tuscany

As said, Instead of speaking about an “average” wedding budget, we find it much more helpful to look at the minimum real cost per guest. This represents a fair starting point to understand what it actually takes to host a wedding in Tuscany today.

Based on the rates we are seeing for 2027 weddings, a minimum budget can be outlined through three main components: the wedding day itself, any additional events you might want to host for your guests, and accommodation.

For the wedding day, which usually includes venue rental, catering, basic setup and essential services, the starting cost is currently around €750 per guest.

Many destination weddings also include additional events, such as a welcome dinner, pizza party, or farewell brunch. These typically start from €150 per guest per event, depending on the format and location.

Finally, if guests stay on-site or nearby, accommodation usually starts from around €130 per person per night, although this can vary depending on the venue and season.

Looking at the budget in this way makes it much easier to understand how your guest count influences the overall investment, and helps you build a celebration that fits both your vision and your priorities.

At this point you might be wondering: what exactly is included in these numbers?

What Is Included in the Wedding Day Cost

To answer that question, let’s take a closer look at what is typically included in the starting cost.

The breakdown below refers to the most common scenario for destination weddings in Tuscany: a multi-day celebration hosted in a venue with on-site accommodation. In this type of setting, couples usually rent the entire property for their guests. Because accommodation represents a significant part of the venue’s revenue, the cost of the spaces used for the wedding events is often reduced or sometimes even waived altogether.

For this reason, in the minimum cost per guest outlined earlier, we are not including a proper venue rental fee. Instead, we are considering a situation where the accommodation itself allows couples to minimize the event spaces fee that takes no more than 10% of the total budget.

The wedding day is the heart of the celebration, and it’s where most of the budget is usually invested. It’s also the moment when many different professionals come together to bring the event to life.

In practical terms, couples planning a destination wedding in Tuscany today should expect a minimum cost of around €750 per guest for the wedding day, depending on the level of design and services involved.

This budget is typically distributed across three main areas:

Food and beverage usually represent about 35% of the overall budget, covering the aperitif, dinner, wedding cake, setup and service.

Design elements such as flowers, lighting, stationery, and décor generally account for 25% of the budget, shaping the overall atmosphere and visual identity of the wedding.

The remaining 30% is typically allocated to the other essential services that make the day run smoothly, including photography, hair and makeup, music, planning services, and the celebrant.

But, How a Typical Wedding Budget in Tuscany Is Distributed.

Let’s dive in deeper.

Wedding Catering and Food Cost

Food and beverage usually represent the largest single expense of the wedding day, and it’s also one of the elements guests remember the most. For this reason, couples typically allocate around 35% of their wedding day budget to catering.

The cost per person varies depending on the number of guests and the type of menu selected. Taking as an example a wedding with around 70 guests, catering prices usually start from €230 per person.

This typically includes the aperitif, with a selection of cocktails, finger foods, and food stations, followed by the wedding dinner, which often features three courses with wine pairing and the wedding cake. The catering cost also generally includes the basic table setup, such as tables, chairs, mise en place, and the service staff required to run the event.

In addition to this, many couples choose to add an open bar during the party, which is usually calculated separately. For approximately two to three hours of open bar service, couples can expect to invest from €50 per guest.

Wedding Design Costs: Flowers, Lighting & Decor

Wedding venues in Tuscany can be imagined as an empty canvas. While the location itself provides the setting, everything else still needs to be added: lighting, flowers, furniture, music, table settings, and all the elements that transform a beautiful space into a truly memorable celebration.

A venue may already be stunning, but it’s the design that gives the wedding its personality.

For this reason, wedding design is, after food and drinks, one of the most significant investments and typically represents around 25% of the overall wedding budget.

This category includes both decorative elements and production elements. Decorations are the visual details ( flowers, stationery, and styling) while production refers to everything needed to create the atmosphere and make the space work for the event, such as lighting setups, sound systems, and technical installations.

Together, these elements shape the look, the mood, and the overall experience of the celebration.

Wedding Lighting and Technical Production

Among all these elements, lighting often plays the most important role, and also the most underestimated.

Even the cheapest wedding venues are breathtaking during the day but become surprisingly dark once the sun sets. Carefully designed lighting is what transforms those spaces at night, creating warmth, intimacy, and the magical atmosphere most couples imagine when they picture their wedding dinner under the Tuscan sky.

Couples typically invest between €7,000 and €20,000 for lighting and sound covering the entire day. This usually includes sound systems for the ceremony, aperitif, dinner, and party, architectural lighting of the spaces, dinner lighting such as string lights or chandeliers, and the technical equipment required for the party.

Wedding Floral Design cost

Floral design is another important part of the overall aesthetic. It includes both personal flowers, such as the bride’s bouquet and bridesmaids’ arrangements, and decorative elements used throughout the celebration, including ceremony décor and table centerpieces.

Interestingly, flowers are often the first element couples consider reducing when reviewing their budget. Because they are temporary, they can sometimes feel like a luxury rather than a necessity. However, when thoughtfully designed, floral arrangements play a key role in bringing softness, color, and depth to the space.

Most local florists work with a minimum spend starting from approximately €5,500, which generally allows for a simple and essential setup. In many cases this budget mainly covers the reception tables, leaving limited room for ceremony decorations.

For a more balanced result across all moments of the day, we usually recommend planning a minimum floral investment of around €8,000, which allows for decorative elements for both the ceremony and the reception.

Overall, floral budgets can range from €5,000 to €15,000–€20,000 or more, depending on the type of flowers, the complexity of the design, the season, and the florist selected.

Stationery, Furniture & Additional Decor

Stationery and additional décor elements are also part of the overall design concept.

Wedding invitations and day-of stationery such as menus, ceremony programs, escort cards, seating plans, and bar menus usually range between € 800 and €4,500, depending on whether the design is fully custom, if it includes illustrations, the type of paper selected, and the printing techniques used.

Lounge areas generally start from €1,000, depending on the style and quantity required. While they certainly contribute to the visual design of the event, lounge areas also play an important role in the comfort of your guests.

They are typically used during the aperitif and later during the party, offering relaxed corners where guests can sit down, chat, or simply take a break from the dance floor. Especially for multi-generational weddings, these spaces create a more welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, allowing everyone to enjoy the celebration in their own way.

For this reason, we always recommend including at least a small lounge setup in the overall design plan.

Other Wedding Vendor Costs

The remaining 30% of the wedding day budget is typically allocated to the professionals who help bring the celebration together.

Photography and videography represent one of the most important investments. Prices generally range from €3,500 to €20,000, depending on experience, notoriety, features and duration of the service which usually range between 8 and 12 hours.

Bridal hair and makeup services typically range from €850 to €2,000, depending on the stylist’s experience and reputation. Some professionals include the trial session in their fee, while others charge it separately. Hair and makeup services for bridesmaids or mothers are usually an additional cost, averaging €150–€350 per person.

Music is one of the most flexible aspects of a wedding. Couples can choose anything from a full live band to a curated playlist, although most prefer a combination of both. A common approach includes live music for key moments, such as a string quartet or harp and violin duo for the ceremony, followed by a DJ or band for dinner and the party. Budgets for live music entertainment generally start from €2,500 and increase depending on the lineup.

Finally, there are a number of smaller services that contribute to the overall experience of the day. These can include wedding favours, photobooth corners, fireworks, or a professional celebrant for a symbolic ceremony. Individually these services may seem small as the starting cost of each is around € 600, but together they can easily add a few thousand euros to the final budget.

Budget for Linked Wedding Events

When planning a destination wedding, the celebration rarely lasts only one day. Many couples choose to organize additional gatherings before or after the wedding itself, such as a welcome dinner the evening before or a relaxed farewell brunch the day after.

These events are usually more informal than the wedding day and therefore less expensive. When they take place at the same venue rented for multiple days, the main cost is typically food and beverage.

On average, couples can expect to invest from €150 per guest per event for these additional moments together.

However, the final cost may increase depending on the type of experience you want to create. Adding elements such as live music, lighting, special décor, or entertainment can raise the budget. If the event takes place at a different location, for example in a restaurant, winery, or private venue, the venue rental fee will also need to be considered.

While these gatherings are often simpler than the wedding day itself, they play an important role in destination weddings, giving couples and their guests time to connect and fully enjoy the experience of being together in Tuscany.

Accommodation Budget for a Wedding in Tuscany

Many venues offer on-site accommodation, allowing couples and their guests to stay together for the entire celebration. This is one of the reasons destination weddings in Tuscany often feel more like a shared experience than a single-day event.

However, not all venues work in the same way. Some properties are rented exclusively for events on a day-use basis, while others include accommodation and are rented for multiple nights. This difference can have a significant impact on the overall wedding budget.

The average accommodation cost usually starts at around €130–€150 per person per night, based on double occupancy.

When a venue includes accommodation, the couple is generally responsible for the full rental of the property for the required number of nights. However, it is very common for guests to contribute or reimburse the couple for their rooms.

This arrangement often works well for everyone involved: couples can secure an exclusive venue for their wedding celebrations minimizing the cost of the venue rental, while guests enjoy the experience of staying together in a beautiful Tuscan property.

Estimated Wedding Budgets in Tuscany by Guest Count

Now that we’ve looked at the minimum cost per guest for the wedding day, linked events, and accommodation, it becomes much easier to estimate the overall budget for the celebration you have in mind.

The logic is quite simple: you multiply the estimated cost per person by the number of guests and add the different moments of the wedding weekend.

To give you a practical idea, let’s imagine a destination wedding in Tuscany with around 70 guests, including:

  • a welcome dinner the evening before
  • the wedding day celebration
  • a farewell brunch the day after
  • accommodation for three nights

Based on the minimum starting costs we discussed earlier, the budget could look something like this.

Example: Wedding Weekend in Tuscany for 70 Guests

Wedding day €750 × 70 guests = €52,500

Welcome dinner €150 × 70 guests = €10,500

Farewell brunch €150 × 70 guests = €10,500

Accommodation (3 nights) €130 × 70 guests × 3 nights = €27,300

Estimated total budget €100,800

Of course, this example represents a starting point rather than a fixed rule. The final cost can vary depending on the venue selected, the level of design and production, the number of vendors involved, and the experiences you choose to offer your guests.

However, thinking in terms of cost per guest makes it much easier to understand how the overall budget grows as the guest list expands, and helps couples plan their celebration with greater clarity from the very beginning.

How the Cost of a Wedding in Tuscany Changes with Your Guest Count (3-Night Wedding Weekend)

Using the minimum starting costs we discussed earlier, here is how the overall budget of a three-day wedding weekend in Tuscany can change depending on the number of guests.

This example shows how strongly the overall budget is influenced by the number of guests. As the guest list grows, the cost of a destination wedding in Tuscany increases quickly, and celebrations with around 70 guests often approach the €100,000 mark for a three-day wedding weekend.

These figures represent a starting point based on the minimum cost per guest, and the final budget will vary depending on the venue selected, the level of design, and the experiences planned for the celebration.

Number of GuestsEstimated Budget
40 guests€57,600
50 guests€72,000
60 guests€86.400
70 guests€100,800
80 guests€115,200
100 guests€144,000

Planning Your Wedding Budget

At this point, you might have realized that planning a wedding in Tuscany is less about finding a single “right” number and more about understanding how different elements come together.

Every celebration is unique. Some couples prioritize an intimate atmosphere with a smaller guest list, while others prefer a larger gathering with more elaborate design and entertainment. Some choose to focus on exceptional food and wine, others on floral design or guest experiences.

The important thing is not chasing a number, but understanding how different choices influence the overall budget.

Once you have a clear idea of your priorities (the number of guests, the type of venue, the experiences you want to create for your family and friends) it becomes much easier to build a budget that feels both realistic and aligned with your vision.

And that’s exactly where thoughtful planning makes the difference: turning numbers on a spreadsheet into a celebration that feels authentic, joyful, and truly yours.
